2024 Overnight Camps

Overnight trips are memorable, challenging and wildly rewarding with friendships and experiences that create lasting impact. Campers learn skills of outdoor survival, mindfulness and creative mediums. Local geology, biology, indigenous knowledge and culture are all incorporated into overnight camps.

Every wild adventure camp adventure has a maximum of 13 campers with 2 full time staff, and often has an additional 1-3 volunteers or counselors. Full time staff are trained Wilderness first responders, life guards, and behavior analysts.

Overnight groups are staffed the same. Wild adventure camp provides tents and all necessary adventure and food/kitchen items. Campers are expected to bring backpack, bedding and sleeping pad, water bottle and personal clothes/items.

The meeting place for the departure is Meridian Playfield. We meet at 9am and campers should have all their gear with them and lunch for that day. You can find the gear list for camping and backpacking trips (View Pack List). Each camp is indicated as either a backpacking or camping trip, please note what type you are registering for. (see Camping vs. Backpacking below) Upon arriving home, families will meet at the same meeting location at 3:30pm. Occasionally we send a message en route with a more accurate eta, not usually earlier, but sometimes later due to packing, traffic and other factors.

Camping vs. Backpacking

What is the difference? When we are camping we are sleeping in tents, 1-2 kids per tent in one location near our vehicle. So we are in a campground with bathrooms and no need to carry our packs long distances. We leave our campsite daily with only the things we need for the day and return each evening for campfire and campsite activities. During a backpacking trip, we leave our vehicle at a trailhead and carry with us everything we need for the week. Kids are expected to carry their personal belongings like clothes and optional items, sleeping bags and a community item. This community item might be kitchen equipment, shared food or the tent they will share with a partner. Backpacking trips feature a different sleeping location each night and focus on efficient pack loads. There are not always toilets available and water is often gathered and filtered on location. Both types of overnight trip includes food in registration, we will always accommodate dietary needs and preferences so be sure to fill out the intake form and send it back after registration.
